The CFC Women had their first road game away at Atlanta, in Silverback Stadium on Saturday, May 21. While Atlanta started strong and continued to press consistently throughout the first half, the CFC Women held tight to keep a 0-0 scoreline at the half.
In the second, Atlanta struck quickly, scoring their first goal in just the second minute of the half. The CFC Women continued to battle, but the Silverbacks scored a shot from 25 yards out in the 66th minute to make it 2-0.
Atlanta kept pressing, scoring a third six minutes later. They put the nail in the coffin just before full time, to make the final score 4-0.
Later, in an interview with Madonna Kemp, Coach Courtney said “Last night was a disappointing second half for us, and we give credit to Atlanta for the adjustments they made at halftime. As a team we are looking forward to getting back on the practice field and working hard. We are also looking forward to having our full roster together so we can gel as a unit.”
